Sunday School
Will you be
responsible for seeing that the child you present is brought up in the
Christian faith and life?
--from
Baptismal vows taken by parents in The Book of
Common Prayer, p. 302
We take on a great role when we raise children.
We take on an even greater responsibility
when we vow to raise a child with faith.
While the most crucial work is done by those
who love and care for them at home, nurturing and grounding children in
the Christian life takes a church community.
Christ Church is here to help. Our Sunday
school program is a touchstone of Christian education and community for
the life of our children.
Classes
Time & Place
Sunday school is for three-year-olds up through eighth grade and
meets during the school year on Sunday mornings from 10:15 to
11:00
AM.
Our classrooms are located in the Fowler House.
Sunday School Registration:
Click here to download our registration form. Please complete one
form per child being registered and return the form(s) to the church.
Sunday School Curriculum:
The pre-school classes (three’s and four’s) will follow the Montessori
style curriculum,
Godly Play. This program
presents scripture stories through interactive storytelling that
encourages children to explore their faith in a way that is playful and
meaningful to them.
Our Kindergarten class will use the
Episcopal Children’s Curriculum.
First through fifth grades will use the
WorkshopCycles program; an innovative way to experience Sunday
school that focuses on the spiritual development of children while
providing exciting activities to engage a new level of learning and
retention. WorkshopCycles
follows a Rotation Model which
means children will work on the same story or concept for six weeks,
using different learning approaches in each workshop. The workshops for
our first unit are art, drama, movie, story & games, kitchen, and music.
Youth in grades six through eight will have a Sunday school class
tailored to their interests.
