Vacation Bible School Thank You

Many thanks to all our volunteers and children who made our 2010 Vacation Bible School from July 12 – 16 such a successful and memorable experience! We worshipped, we played, we planted our pizza gardens, and we sang songs. Here are some pictures of our fun time together.

Will you be responsible for seeing that the child you present is brought up in the Christian faith and life?

--from Baptismal vows taken by parents in the Book of Common Prayer, p. 302

We take on a great role when we raise children. We take on an even greater responsibility when we vow to raise a child with faith. While the most crucial work is done by those who love and care for them at home, nurturing and grounding children in the Christian life takes a church community. Christ Church is here to help. Our Sunday school program is a touchstone of Christian education and community for the life of our children.

Classes

Time & Place

Sunday school is for pre-K and three-year-olds up through sixth grade and meets during the school year on Sunday mornings from 10:15 to 11:00 AM. Our classrooms are located in the Fowler House.

Curriculum

Most grades, especially the youngest, make use of our Godly Play resources for teaching. Godly Play uses simply story telling to invite children to wonder about themselves, God, and the world in a way that is playful and meaningful to them.

Grades K-6 use the Episcopal Children's Curriculum a Biblically-based and liturgically-oriented resource that grounds children in the basics of our faith.

Teachers

To teach is to learn. We welcome those who sense a call by the Holy Spirit to deepen their own faith and join our Sunday school teaching ministry. We do require screening and training for teachers as well as participation in regular teacher gatherings. Contact Pattie Raynor, Family Ministry Coordinator (click here to send Pattie an email), or the Rev. Erika Takacs, Associate Rector for Faith Formation and Evangelism (click here to send Erika an email), for more information.
