Our Little Roses Home for Girls

Our Little Roses Home for Girls (OLR) in San Pedro Sula, Honduras is a place where the lives of once destitute girls are now being transformed. Founded in 1988, by Diana Frade, Nuestras Pequenas Rosas, as it is known in Spanish, provides a safe shelter, a healthy diet, clothing, health care, emotional support, and secular and religious education for girls, aged newborn to eighteen years old. Once victims of poverty and oppression, these girls are given the chance to be healed and to grow, learning to love and trust God and one another, in a family atmosphere with Christian leadership. Christ Church, through its prayers, annual mission trip, and financial contributions plays a vital role in sustaining this crucial ministry.

Christ Church Honduras Mission Trip 2010.

This summer, join Christ Church parishioners and friends from other states, churches, and schools for a mission trip to Our Little Roses Home (OLR) for Girls in San Pedro Sulas, Honduras. 

Trip dates are July 24 – August 2 2010 and the cost is $1,400 (all-inclusive).

At OLR, we work, play, and build relationships with the girls and staff. We learn about Honduran culture. We serve a very poor country and in so doing, we learn about ourselves. We engage in fellowship and friendship. We are there for the girls of OLR and we see the Holy Spirit in action.

Safety is a top priority on this mission trip. Travel insurance is provided; security and bilingual drivers are used in-country. The mission team stays in a hotel and eats together at each meal.

The group size will be limited to 20 people. To participate, individuals must register by March 8, 2010.

Please note these important dates & times for the OLR mission trip:

• Mandatory team meeting, orientation, and training:  March 14, 2:00 – 4:00 pm (Teen Center)
• Team planning meeting: April 25, 7:00 pm (Library)
• Team planning meeting: May 16, 7:00 pm (Library)  
• Prevention of Child Abuse Training: June 12*
• Mandatory team meeting and training: June 13, 2:00 – 4:00 pm (Teen Center)
• Mission team commissioning: July 18, 9:00 am (Church)
• Mission gathering and potluck dinner: July 23, 6:00 pm (Location to be determined)
• Sunday worship service at Santa Maria Episcopal Church in Falls Church, VA. The team goes as a group for cross-cultural training. Date is to be determined.

* The Prevention of Child Abuse training is mandatory for anyone going on a mission trip. The June 12 date is the last training available before the July OLR mission trip. Details on the training will be provided to those needing to attend.
