Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia (HFHNV)

HFHNV volunteers assist deserving, needy families in purchasing simple, decent housing in the Northern Virginia area through a home construction/rehabilitation program.

Ministry Needs

Energy, enthusiasm, interest in affordable housing, and lots of patience with construction delays! Need individuals to coordinate activities and liaison with HFHNV and other faith communities in Alexandria.

Training Provided

None is needed.

Meetings and Time Required

This ministry meets as needs required when there is a project needing volunteer construction labor. Depending upon activity level, two to four hours per month. One or more Saturdays a month working on a house (hammering, sawing, toting barges, lifting bales). Habitat also needs volunteers on Wednesdays.

Benefits

A real opportunity to see "faith in action." Opportunities to interact with other Alexandria faith communities, the tangible rewards of a job well done, and the happy faces of a family getting the keys to their own home.
